Question No. 1                                                                                                                                       (10 Marks)

As you studied, the key goals of HCI are user experience goals and usability goals. Read the below mentioned scenarios carefully and figure out that which scenario is related to user experience goals and which is related to usability goals with justification. (Note: Justification should not be more than 2 to 3 lines for each scenario)

a)      Think about the QWERTY keyboard, for instance. Whether you select the idea that the keyboard's layout was created to prevent key jamming or the more cynical idea that it was done to make users pay for typing lessons, the ultimate effect was a deliberate disregard for one goal to achieve another goal.

b)     Consider an online groceries shop application that lacks clear navigation menus. This unpleasant and poor navigation experience makes the users to leave the website. This application also lacks a powerful search bar that should have allowed the users to easily search for their desired product for purchase.

c)      Consider an e-commerce website, some of the features it provides to the users include Day and night view modes that help highlight page content and reduce eye strain. It has an intuitive, simple sidebar to guide users through the app, and know more information about their products with an eye-catching design style that helps to ease the entire browsing process.

Question No. 2                                                                                                                                       (10 Marks)

There are two figures in the below mentioned table, showing a list of suggested social media friends. You are required to identify which one is an example of good design and which one is an example of bad design with justification. Explain. (Note: Justification should not be more than 3 to 4 lines)

Due to its illustration of a recognisable and simple user interface, Figure 1 is an example of good design. It adheres to accepted standards, improving usability and user experience. In contrast, Figure 2 displays poor design with a huge close button that upsets the visual hierarchy and may cause unintentional closures or make it harder to find other crucial interface elements.
